Do Beta Blockers And Diuretics Cause Drug Induced Diabetes?

I have hypertension and am currently on Carvedilol 25 mg 2 x da and Chlorthalidone 25 mg onece daily. Was diagnosed with prediabetes last week. I am now on a no white anything diet and staying away from sugars. I never had this problem before however I recognize I need to lose 15 pounds. Read that beta blockers and diuretics can cause drug induced diabetes. Should I ask my cardiologist to change my meds?

You are having hyper tension and in pre diabetic stage.For both the problems life style change is essential.Avoid alcohol and smoking.Have hyper tensive profile along with diabetic related investigation,serum cholestarole and lipid profile.If any abnormality detected should be treaed first.Avoid fried food and take low salt.Take more potassiom rich food.There are many option and combination of drug available for treating hyper tension.Leave it to your treating doctor to decide the mode of treatment.At this stage of diabetis life style change and diet control is important.In case the blood sugar is controlled then continue the same process.
