Do Losartan And Pravastatin Cause Fatigue And Pain In The Joints?

HI, I am 62 year old male. Taking Losartan 25 mg and Pravastatin-losartan in the morning and Pravastatin in the evening. I was feeling tired and having severe pain in joints, especially in L-bow. My brother was facing same issues. His Doc in Arkansas told him that it was side effect of same kind of medicines. He stopped taking medicines and he was fine. Accordingly, I also stopped taking above named medicines. Pain in joints is considerably reduced but I am worried about blood pressure. My BP this morning was 153/83. What is your advice ?

Hi,

Pravastatin can occasionally cause muscle pain, but joint pain is unlikely to be a side effect of that drug. Similarly losartan to does not lead to joint pains. To control blood pressure losartan is required. Pravastatin is given for normalizing lipid profile. Since your BP is 153/83 mm Hg, then there is a need for drug like losartan. My suggestion is both these compounds are unlikely to cause the joint pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks,
Dr. Prabhakar Laxman Jathar
