Do Althea Pills Cause Pimples?

Hi I've been taking althea pills (recommended by my OB), today is my 3rd month. Is it normal for it to cause me to have pimples? I've never had pimple problems before, but ever since I've started taking the pills, my pimples got worse, do you think it's just my body's way of adjusting or something else? How long do you think will the effects of having clear skin happen?

Hi,

Althea pill is contraceptive pill contains progestin, which may be responsible for acne development or exacerbation. I advise to finish the course of this contraceptive and have some other method for contraception. Take minocycline 50 mg daily in morning for few months. And apply clindamycine with adapalene gel at night on lesions. I think you may be alright. To prevent new lesions of acne, avoid Althea pills and use other methods. I hope you got my answer.

Thanks.
