I have been on effexor er since 1999. worked well. Bad side effects when taking little to late and would actually start going through withdraw almost immediately. Now there are 2 brands of the generic vanflaxine. When switched from one generic to the i have serious side effect. Almost like i have just discontinued taking it, I get way down and depressed, wanna sleep, dizzy, cant hold a conversation, It feels like a bad flu. Hi,

Venlafaxine is well known for discontinuation symptoms and missing even a single dose or a major delay in the dose can lead to uncomfortable symptoms. It is possible that the second generic venlafaxine is not delivering the same dose as the previous one and this has resulted in the worsening of your mental health. Please ask your doctor to let you go back to the previous one or hike the dose of the present one. That should take care of your problem.

Best wishes.
