Dizziness And Nausea After Taking Prilosec For Hoarseness. History Of Vertigo. Another Opinion?

Hi:
Went to an ENT for hoarseness, ongoing since last October. He diagnosed acid reflux irritation near my voice box. My primary care physician had put me on generic version of Prilosec (20mg) for 2 weeks (back in January) to see if hoarseness would stop. It helped but didn't go away completely. Knowing this the ENT told me to take 40mg of OTC Prilosec for 6 weeks so my voice can heal. Bought the Prilosec with magnesium OTC. After a few days, had a short bout of dizzyness (while getting up during the night) and the urge to vomit. Now after a week, I awoke with severe dizzyness (in the middle of the night) and the dizzyness has continued throughout the day (although better this PM). Also have nausea and urge to vomit off and on. Spoke to an associate of my doctor and she suggested I try Prevacid. Talked to pharmacist who said Prevacid has same side effects as Prilosec. She suggested I knock dose down to 1 pill Prilosec per day and talk to original ENT when he returns from vacation (which is next week). I have read online via Mayo Clinic and WebMD that dizzyness can be a side effect although both doctor office and pharmacist state this is rare and than maybe I'm having another bout of vertigo (which I had in 2009). Guess what I'm looking for is another opinion as to what I should be doing at this time. I do NOT want to have this dizzyness ongoing, for sure. I was able to handle the 20mg generic Prilosec without a problem. Will 5 more weeks on 20mg Prilosec be enough for my voice to heal?

Thank you for reading this very long question and for your time.

Hi, it appears that you are suffering so long from the hoarse ness of the voice, and using only prilosec, since that time and no change in treatment, or diagnosis. I advise ypou to consult a larynx specialist for diagnosis.
It appears that you have some problem with the larynx and it has spread to the internal ear and causing the dizziness, and nausea.
I advise you to gargle, with the salt in luke warm water, daily twice. avoid taking fruits, juices, and cool drinks and water. thank you.
