Dizziness And Blackout After An Injury To The Finger. Ringing In The Ears, Nausea And Heaviness In Legs. Cause?

While stringing my guitar I pricked my finger, suddenly I got very dizzy my vision went dim and black. my ears were ringing but i couldnt hear. I could hardly walk my legs felt like they were 200 lbs each then broke out into a cold sweat my clothes were soaked. Felt like I was going to pass out. Very nasueos thus lasted about 10 minutes then I was fine. 37 year old female

I read your query regarding sudden dizziness, blackout,ringing in ears, nausea after injury to the finger.

You have all above suddenly just after injury to finger and these symptoms lasted only for 10 minutes and after that you were O.K..This was a VASO VAGAL phenominon. Such type of situation arises by sudden severe pain, Listening a shocking news and by any activity which stimulates vagus nerve like sometimes cleaning of ear also brings this phenominon because deep part of ear canal is supplied by vagus nerve and it gets stimulated by ear cleaning.

As for as treatment is concern no specific medicine is needed only thing is to keep the patient in lying down position with foot end raised for better cerebral circulation.
