It is better to discontinue with the wear of contact lenses till your symptoms subside and you can switch over to spectacles for 2-3 weeks till the eyes are redness
free. Sometimes persistent viral infections can occur . However these are self limiting. Since the area aound the eyes is red( not the inside of the eye or the white part of the eye), it could be due to irritation from constant wiping of tears. You can put lubricating eye drops (OTC), 1 drop 4 times a day for 2-3 weeks for symptomatic relief. You can apply a steroid
+ antibiotic eye ointment to the skin around the eyes, once a t bedtime, for a week.
