Did Augmentin Dds Cause Rashes On An Infant S Butt?

My son is 15 months. He was suggested augmentin dds and nutrolin B for 5 days, when he had ear infection [fluid in the ear] after cold n cough. But my bad, i missed to give him nutrolin B alongwith augmentin for 3 days. So he developed rashes in his bums and areas around. Now I started giving nutrolin B with augmentin dds. Is it ok, or would he have anyother side effects? Pl advice.

Hi...the rash around the anus could be due to the loose stools he might be having due to the antibiotic which is quite expected. This is not because you have not used Nutrolin-B concurrently. You need not feel bad about it.

For the peri-anal excoriation and rash you can use - emollient ointment which should settle the issue. I prefer and prescribe Siloderm ointment as external application around the anal region.
