Diarrhoea, Recurring Skin Rash, Itching, Losing Weight. Diabetic. History Of Colon Cancer

My father is 79 years old. He has diaherra and a recurring skin rash that has been going since June. He has been to 6 doctors. Claritin helps the skin rash. He has lost 10 pounds. He is diabetic. He had colon cancer in 1993 but has been cancer free since surgery, radiation, and chemotheraphy. The rash is very itchy and bleeds when he scratches it.

Hello there!
Diarrhoea is explained by diabetic neuropathy and malignancy of colon treated though but still has its after all effects.
Now skin rash. I believe if its recurr again and again its a cholinergic urticaria or some complication due to autonomic neuropathy secondary to diabetes as neuropathy is very common complication of Diabetes.
I would advise to see the dermatologist for better assessment of the rash and mean while continue the same treatment for the itching. I would recommend tablet Doxepins they would help the itching and will be a good antidepressant your father needs at this age plus it is gut friendly.

Hope i was of some help
Regards
Dr. S Khan
