Diarrhea, Sharp Stabbing Pain In Stomach. Treatment Options?
Hi im 23 and I have recently returned to the XXXX and I was really poorly with sickness and diarrhoea for one of the nights I was there, since returning on Saturday i have been feeling sick and still experiencing diarrhoea what is the best thing I can do to stop it as the stomach pains that come with it are shocking!
Hi
The best thing will be to see a doctor! - as soon as possible!
The next choice will be to treat oneself! -
The dangerous part of diarrhoea is from dehydration (loss of fluids). Drink lot of fluids - water (with some sugar and salt is better), juice and so on. There are electrolytes preparations - ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) available over the counter, in most pharmacies. For each loose stool, one may require approximately, a glass of fluids.
Anti-spasmodic (example hyoscine ) is very helpful for pain relief
Bowel binding agents are at times useful - but if it is bacterial infection, they can be bad by promoting the toxins to stay longer! Better taken on medical supervision
Take care
Good luck
