Psychiatrist 's  Response
hello

welcome to health care magic

Risperidone is an antipsychotic drug. Sizodon plus also contains trihexyphenidyl which is a central anticholinergic to prevent side effects of risperidone (i.e. EPS- e.g. Drug induced parkinsonism).
Arip MT contains aripiprazole which is again an antipsychotic drug with better side effect profile than risperidone.
Don't worry, continue the treatment as advised and have faith in your doctor.

Good Luck

Thanks

Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.

The treatment which your brother has been advised is appropriate for his diagnosis. Both Sizodon (Risperidone) and Arip MT are anti-psychotic medication, given for Schizophrenia. The trihexyphenidyl in the Sizodon plus is a medication given to prevent certain side effects due to Risperidone (like tremors, muscle rigidity, restricted movement, etc.) Since, he has had a relapse on stopping medication, it is now essential to continue medication on a long-term basis.

Wish you all the best.

SIZODON- Risperidone ARIP- Aripripazole, both are antipsychotic and can be given in SCHIZOPHRENIA.
TRIHEXYPHENIDYL- used to lower the side effects (EXTRA PYRAMIDAL) of antipsychotics.
Then main thing is to adjust the dose between the medicines. Now he is getting Risperidone-6mg, Aripripazole- 10 mg per day. Anyway rather than using a combination of two drug a full dose of a single drug is preferable. As the highest dose is almost achieved in case of RISPERIDONE thats why Aripripazole has been added. Now just keep patience and wait for the good outcome.
Best of luck.
