Diagnosed with ulcer in the stomach. Prescribed Drotin DS, Librex, Rabonik Plus. Role of these medicine?

I am diagnosed with a small ulcer in the stomach and duodonitis. I am prescribed with Drotin DS, Librex, Rabonik Plus. What role does Drotin DS play in healing ulcer? Does it really have a role or is given to repair the damage due to instrumental procedure during endoscopy and collection of tissues for routine biopsy? Is ulcer curable? Medicinal treatment or surgical treatment is more appropriate? Regrds, P. PALADHI

Hello and welcome to HCM.

Thank you for your query.

The main role of treatment in peptic ulcer disease is at first killing any infections that are present, reducing acid production, reducing pain by treating the spasm, and treating the symptoms (gas, etc.)

Drotin DS: is an anti-spasmodic which will relax the region where the ulcer is present, and avoid pain and further worsening of the condition
Librax: It helps in treating abdominal cramps, spasms and relieves anxiety related to gastric problems
Rabonik Plus: Helps in reducing acid production, which if high (acid) will irritate and further aggravate your condition.

I feel your therapy is slightly incomplete, as it concentrates only on symptoms management. I would suggest the addition of antibiotic therapy and bismuth compounds (which would help in ulcer healing).

I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications. I would gladly help you.

Best wishes.
