Diagnosed With Strep Throat, White Blob Inside, Sweating, Dizziness. Taking Penicillin Antibiotics. Does It Sound Serious?

Hello, I went to the doctor yesterday and was diagnosised with strep throat. When I looked at my throat I had a huge white blob on the right side. Last night I looked and the white was still there, but there was also a black blob going towards the middle of my throat... This has also been acompanied by severe pain and i go between freezing and sweating... I just looked again and the white spot is still there but now there is blackish/ brownish on the right and left side. I also had a dizzy spell and threw up. I have taken three doses of my penicillin antibiotics. Should I call the doctor again?

The blobs you're seeing in the back of your throat are called "exudates" and are very common in Strep Pharyngitis. The treatment your doctor prescribed is the standard first line therapy. Typically, we like to give it 2-3 days at least before we call it a success or failure. I would continue to rest, make sure you're getting enough fluids, and continue your antibiotic.
