Diagnosed With Severe Anaemia, Hair Loss, Blurred Vision, Heart Racing, Profuse Sweating. Due To Overactive Thyroid?

I have recently being diagnosed with severe anaemia, I had 3 pints of blood to try help... This was due to heavy periods. I was prescribed nothisterone and put some weight on. I came off this and lost weight. Since June I have lost 15kgs. I have developed other symptoms and wonder if this is a result of nothisterone. Hair loss, beating heart, blurred vision, regular bowl movement... Sweats, do you think this old be overactive thyroid

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It might be related to overreactive thyroid, however, lab results (TSH, T3, T4) and thyroid ultrasound can determine your real problem.

Usually, the use of nothisterone is associated with diarrhoea, feeling dizzy or nervous (as in over-reactive thyroid) and some other cases is related to hair loos, raised blood pressure, etc.

With regards to your "blurred vision" problem, most probably it is due to anemia.

Once again, the lab tests would determine if the problems you are experiencing are due to thyroid or nothisterone use.

Hope it helped!

Radiologist, Nuclear Medicine Dr. Manoranjan Chowhan's  Response
The symptoms that you have described almost all of them may hint towards an underlying thyroid disease specially overactive thyroid.
But some tests are essential to establish the diagnosis with more certainty eg Thyroid function test.
Once these tests area done your diagnosis can be substantiated more easily
with thanks from
