Diagnosed With Prostate Enlargement. Angiogram Showing Blockage. Advised Angioplasty And Laser Surgery. Can I Perform Laser Surgery First?

Hello Doctor,
Myself Nanjunda Rao. My father aged 64years has been diagonised with prostate enlargement. Doctor had asked my father to undergo angiogram before they could conduct the Laser surgery for enlarged prostate. When angiogram test was conducted, the report said that in one of the valve there is 90% of blockage. Now the doctor is saying to first conduct Angioplasty and after 2 years for Lase surgery for Enlarged prostate. My question, can we perform laser surgery for prostate enlargement first and then Angiplasty?

Pls reply to this . My email id is YYYY@YYYY
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic,

After going through all the details you have provided, your father is having urinary obstruction due to Prostate enlargement.

During preoperative screening there must be some abnormality in the ECG hence angiogram was ordered and now he has been detected to have 90% obstruction in the one of the valve.

I presume there is obstruction in one of the coronary artery which supply blood to the heart. Because if valve defect is there this can easily be diagnosed with 2 D Echocardiography.

If his coronary blood circulation is compromised then it is logical to go for angioplasty and correct the coronary obstruction first and then go for prostate surgery.

In the meantime there is good medical treatment for prostate obstruction and if required urine can be drained with catheter, the duration of 2 years ? once angioplasty is done successfully his prostate surgery can be performed.

Hope this information helps.
Take care.
Good Luck.
