Diagnosed With Pleurisy, Have Pain Around The Corner Causing Pain While Breathing, Stabbing In Lungs. Normal?

I was told I have pluerisy, but a lot of what I have read says the pain is chest pain , but mine is around the corner from where it would be in front to the side and mid back, yes it hurts tremendously when I breath it feels like one of my ribs in my back is stabbing me in my lung , when I cough , when I move or twist a certain way is this an area that is normal for the pain of pluerisy. We do have lung and rib in the back of us right, if so is this possible, that that is where this severe sharp stabbing pain is? How long can it last, what can I do to reduce the pain PLEEEEZE HELP, SHARON

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
There is nothing to worry about it is due to chest infection that can spread to the pleura the outer covering the lungs.
It can be treated easily with the combination of
1. An Antibiotic such as Avelox 400 once daily for 05 days.
2. A decongestant such as Telfast D that is a combination of Pseudoephedrine and loratidine twice daily for 05 days.
3. Pain killer such as Ibuprofen 400 mg thrice daily for 05 days
4. Antitussive such as Sancos that can reduce your cough so your precipitating factor for pain to be relieved.

You will be fine in a day or two donot worry take these medications and have chest xray to rule out other things such as pleural effusion.

I hope I am successful in solving your query If you have more you can ask me.
Take care and have good rest.
Regards,
Dr. Azhar Sattar
