Diagnosed With Minor Hypothyroid. Taking Synthroid For Hair Loss Leading To Increase In Dandruff
Recently I was diagnosed with a minor hypothyroid. I had pretty moderate hair loss and was am now on syntrhoid. Ever since I started taking synthroid I have noticed a major increase in dandruff. I noticed that when the skin falls the hair has been falling out with the skin. I was wonderng if this is normal with syntrhoid or if it is a different hormonal imbalance that is causing it. I had my TSH tested recently and my number is now within the normal range thanks to synthroid, but my hair is having serious problems. What should I do?
Hair fall is not related to synthyroid at all. Infact not taking synthyroid may lead to hair fall. Hypothyroidism causes hair fall. Your TSH is normal, so it is not related to hair fall. Hair fall is related to dandruff in your case. You can shampoo containing selenium sulphide like selsun. Get well soon.
