Diagnosed With Dermatofibrosarcoma, Operated To Remove Tumor. Second Opinion Required To Decide About Radiation
My daughter has been diagnosed with dermatofibrosarcoma and she was operated on to remove the tumor. It was removed, but the Dr. went back in b/c the margin was not clear. But even after the second surgery, the Dr wants a second opinion to decide about radiation. So my question is WHERE is the best place for my daughter to get another opinion about this condition? YYYY@YYYY
I am so sorry to hear about this tumour that your daughter has. The decision to do radiation therapy or not is closely influenced by the pathology results from the sample. If for sure all the tumour margins were removed, then there is no need for radiation therapy. If there are any doubts or it was not completely removed, then please strongly consider accepting radiotherapy.
In summary, if your doctor has doubts about whether he completely excised this tumour or not, please psuh for radiotherapy or maybe you change the doctor completely. Doctors ask for second opinions from team members and it is not the duty of the family to seek that information and provide him with.
