It is unfortunate that there was a delay in the proper diagnosis.
The most likely cause in this case could be a brainstem stroke (more specifically in the pons area of the brain). This can result into loss of consciousness
of hands and legs.
The common risk factors for the same are diabetes, high BP and cholesterol
