Diagnosed With Chondrocalcinosis. Have Stiffness In The Morning. Is There Any Diet That May Help?

I have a diagnosis of chondrocalcinosis and struggle in the morning with stiffness and aches all over. I have tried different mattresses and pillows and sleep with a pillow between my knee's. I was wondering if there is a diet that might help me feel less stiff, particularly in the mornings but generaaly as well. Thanks - Nick

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

As far as my knowledge is concerned, there is no specific dietary management for chondrocalcinosis.

The general treatment guidelines for chondrocalcinosis is as follows -

* Rest to the inflammed joints
* Anti inflammatory therapy in the form of NSAID's
* Intra articular steroid injections
* Systemic corticosteroids
* Ocassional colchine or methotrexate may provide some relief.

Hope this information is helpful .Good day
