Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

Your condition is otherwise known as "Kienbock's disease" of Lunate.

This is just to let you know that each patient's response to treatment depends on the degree of damage to the lunate and surrounding wrist bones.

Treatment does not change the course of the disease, however it can help to minimize the disability from the problem. You cannot expect to ever return to normal wrist function after any form of treatment.

After surgery, the cast will be put on for a period of 8 -10 weeks.

You can resume to your work after the completion of bone consolidation.

As I said earlier, you cannot expect to have a normal range of movement. Disability depends on the stage of your disease.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
