Diagnosed Empty Nose Syndrome. Crusting Only In Winter Due To Dry Mucus, No Crusting In Summer. History Of Turbinectomy. Right Diagnosis?

been diagnosed with empty nose syndrome initially, went to get 2nd opinion & those ENT doctors say I do not have ENS because there is no crusting. I had turbinectomy 15 years ago so no crusting is visible but during winter(cold season) crusting forms due to dry mucus & in summer there is no mucus being produced hence now in summer I do not have any crusting. How do I get this diagnosed correctly.

Hi,
Thanks for contacting HCM
You have empty nose syndrome after turbinectomy.
ENT doctors say I do not have ENS because there is no crusting.
These finding are suggestive of that you dont have Empty Nose Syndrome Because in ENS there is no crusting 24x365 and The patient complains of poor nasal breathing and often a relentless sensation of suffocation or shortness of breath despite having a patent (typically over-patent) nasal airway. The patients typically complain of nasal dryness too.
Thanks
