Diabetic, Have Missed Acto Plus, Tests Show Elevation In Blood Sugar, Have Vision Loss. Remedy?
I am a type two diabetic and I take Lantus Solostar for my insulin . I use 15 units a day and I also take Acto Plus Met twice daily. Something happened that my Acto Plus got accidentally thrown away and I have been a week now since I have had it. Today my blood sugar numbers were up to 460 at one point. My refills for the Acto Plus is not for another week and a half and I am experiencing visual loss. I know the Acto Plus helps me absorb the insulin and I m wondering if there is anything I can do on my own...

What are your morning fasting glucose values ? Please let me know so that we can temporarily increase the lantus dose till you get your prescription refill. Apart from that there is very little alternative to your medicine refill. try holding on to carbs for a couple of days till you get your prescription refill. Do let me know the morning fasting glucose levels of yours.

Welcome to HCM
You are Type II Diabetes and taking Basal Insulin Lantus, it is not enough to control sugar level as there is insulin resistance and you have missed metformin and Pioglitazone tab hence blood sugar level is high.
High blood sugar level does change index of lens of our eyes hence visual disturbance.
You can use Regular insulin additional doses before lunch and dinner in consultation with treating Physician.
Once blood sugar is controlled oral tab can be started again.
You have to take care of your medicine stock.
I do not understand why you can not procure new stock?
I would suggest to consult doctor first as sugar level is high.
