Diabetic. Done With Blood ESR Test. How To Reduce ESR? Chances Of Having Infection?

My mother is 55 years old. She is a diabtic patient. Her diabtes level is normal now. But some times she is getting fever. Her Health is also decreasing day by day. Today we had a Blood ESR test and level is 128. we are totally surprised and feared. What could be the reason of increasing ESR and how to reduce it. What are the infections can happen in body. what are the diagnosis need to do to find out the reason for it. Please help me. I am totally feared. I cant manage myself without my mother. Please help me doc.

Thanks for posting your query.
ESR is a non specific test and it indicates that some disease process is going on in body.
Elevation in ESR could be due to infectious disease or due to non infectious disease. Rise in ESR doesn't mean some sort of infections.
Rise is ESR could be due to long lasting diabetes. As you have defined that she is also suffering from fever, every effort should be made to find the cause.
You should consult with internal medicine specialist/ endocrinologist and should go for thorough check up.
You should also go for complete blood count, chest x ray, widal test, urine routine & microscopy.
There could also be possibility of arthritis and connective tissue disease.
Treatment depends on exact diagnosis.
Control of infectious or non infectious disease may control ESR.
