Diabetic. Could The Metformin Be Cause For Bloating Stomach?
I am a type 1 diabetic in ER This weekend dehydrated. I am insulin resistant and on metformin which I just started taking again, stopped cause it bloated me and I m 20. Been 2 days and now my whole body is bloated and my stomach hurts. Could the Metformin be causing this, before it was just my stomach that bloated?
Metformin causes gastric intolerance. But it only troubles the stomach. But your symptoms are most likely associated with any rare complication of metformin which is lactic acidosis. Consult your doctor and get your serum lactic acid level tested. In that case you may have to stop and not restart metformin again. Take care of your dehydration.
