Diabetes Under Control By Having Gemer And Metformin But Leading To Weight Loss. How To Correct It?

Am 40 yrs old and diabetic for the last 3 years. Initially tried to control sugar level by walking daily 5kms, it was fine with sugar level to be between 150-200. But with the rise in work pressure and stress, felt like sugar level not in control after a year. The doctor prescribed Gemer 2- one before breakfast and one before dinner. I have also a strict diet with daily morning walks upto 3-4 kms. But in between in October, the frequency of travelling went up and with that even the sugar level also went up till 360. Met Doctor and was prescribed Gemer 2 + Metformin Dank 500mg. After checking with Glucometer ( at home) on weekly basis, the sugar level dropped to 124 fasting and 162 after food ( 2hrs). Its now 2 months having this combination and things are ok. But there is a concern on my weight loss, I used to be 64 kgs 2 years back, but now am only 57 kgs. Am 5' 6". Kindly advice if this high dose of combination is required and does this combination affect my weight loss. awaiting reply, Thanks....Ashish.

Diabetologist 's  Response
Dear Mr.Ashish,
with ref to your query the good thing is your sugar levels are coming in control and the weight loss may be due to the glycemic fluctuation previously.you can see the weight gain in future and check your body mass index ,if you are maintaining the weight accordingly.check your HbA1c once in 3 months and than adjust the Gemer dosage .please check your thyroid profile also for the weight loss.
