Developed Fever, Cough And Enlarged Lymph Node In Axilla. Prescribed Antibiotics. Swollen. Infection?

My 6 year old son developed a fever, dry cough & enlarged (golf ball sized) lymph node in his left axilla 3 days ago. He also c/o pain in his axilla, scapula, & lumbar areas, as well as a sore throat. I took him to urgent care 2 days ago & he was prescribed an antibiotic & cough syrup. No labs were drawn. I was told he was simply fighting an infection. He is still running a low grade fever & says he just doesn't feel well. He hasn't played all day due to the pain in his left axilla & shoulder. While getting him ready for bed, the node in his axilla is larger (and harder) and his scapula is swollen/tender as well. Standing, I'm no longer able to define the scapula. Our family doctor won't be back in the office for a couple of days. Is this something that needs more immediate attention, or could the nodes be THAT swollen & painful simply from an infection?
