Developed An Extremely Painful Sore Throat, My Tongue Feels Tired. What Is The Disease?

About a day ago I developed an extremely painful sore throat, I can barely swallow, I have little red bumps at the back of my throat, my tongue feels tired and he's throbbed at several stages throughout the day (not continuously) my tongue has a sort of rim around the edge of it and an ulcer on the side. Is this serious? And could it be STD related?

Hi and thanks for the query,
It s important to get examined. This could be a bacterial or viral infection. Knowing the exact cause could orient the diagnosis and management. Its important for your tongue to get examines too. Drugs like antibiotics, antiseptics for mouth hygiene, antifungal drugs in case its oral candida infection could be prescribed depending on the case.
Consulting an ENT specialist, or your family care physician could be very helpful.
Best regards,
Luchuo, MD.
