Developed A Lump After Taking Injection Rocephin. Suffering With UTI. Will The Medication Be Absorbed?

I'm twenty and weigh 125 pounds and I have a severe uti. I recieved a rocephin 1 gram injection into my right butt cheek. I am a nurse and I have given many patients this particular injection, but I developed a baseball size lump at the location of injection. If the medication by chance didn't make it into muscle will it still be absorbed and work effectively? And could this cause infection? Will this lump be permanent? Thanks so much! -Sara.

Hi Sara ,Welcome to Health Care Magic

There is no need to worry about baseball sized lump , its usual for majority of people due to excess medication which has not got absorbed quickly , Remember that many antibiotics can be given I.V to get absorbed spontaneously than Intramuscularly ,
Anyhow dont be worried all medications get absorbed and will work effectively and will not cause infection, It will not leave permenant mark on site.
Apply hot bag on injected site daily to reduce symptom faster.
