Delayed Periods, Occasional Bleeding After Having Sex. Reason For Delayed Periods?

hi Dr Manjunath
my periods came earlier than the usual date,this month i have not seen my periods yet and the date that i went on my periods has passed.sometimes when i have sex i bleed a little bit. i bought famynor pills and i was told to start with the red pills to regulate my menstrual cycle . what could be the delay for my periods?

Thanks for your query.
There could be various reasons for a delayed period.
Notable among them are - stress, anxiety, recent travelling, weight gain or loss, ingestion of concurrent medications which affect the menstrual cycle.
Other causes are - polycystic ovaries, thyroid hormone disorder, endometrial pathology etc.
You can only know the exact reason after examination bya gynecologist.
Also, post coital bleeding needs to be investigated for any local cervical lesion.
