Delayed Menstrual Cycle. Taking Monocef-o, Levoflox For Urine Infections. Medication Side-effects?

Hi Sir, My wife has not got period from past 45days, she used to get regular periods but this month it has not happened so. Last month she was treated on urine infections with monocef-o 200mg,K-cit,levoflox. Does using these medicines cause any side effects on periods. As we re planning for pregnancy we re eager to know. Kindly help. Thanks

Hello,
Thanks for your query.
As you mentioned your wife was taking Monocef (ceftrixone) and Levoflox (levefloxacin) for Urinary tract infection. So far no any study showed that these drugs can delay periods, however researchers are studying if it really delays periods as some post-marketing side effects of ceftrixone related to periods have been reported.
However, stress caused by any infection can delay periods. you are advised to rule out pregnancy and repeat urine analysis and urine culture to rule out infection.
Ceftrixone is safe during pregnancy but Levofloxacin should be avoided during pregnancy.
