Could You Advise For Some Relief From The Restless Leg Syndrome And Arthritis In Shoulders And Taking Ropinirole And Celebrex?

Suggestions please for some relief. My uncle is having uncontrolled pain from his rt hip that extends to the bottom of his foot and no longer able to walk. He calls it restless leg syndrome and receives ropinirole 1mg 2xd. He is diabetic and has been on dialysis for 12 years. Can dialysis take a toll on his bones? He also has severe arthiritis in both shoulders which really limits his movement and overall function. He is presently taking Celebrex 100 mg 2Xd and Norco 10/500 every 6 hrs if needed. He has tried heat and Lidoderm patches with only brief relief. Is Gabapentin something to consider? by itself or in addition to these. He is only on a MVI,Synthroid, stool sfteners, and 2 stomach pills.

Hi,

The pain in right hip radiating down to the foot seems to be due to sciatica and not restless legs syndrome. It is due to the involvement of the sciatic nerve and may benefit with the addition of gabapentin to his current regimen. He will also need to be assessed for any problem in his spine as that is the most common reason for sciatica. You are right in suspecting that dialysis affects the levels of calcium and phosphorus in the body, the optimum levels of which are necessary for bone health. But I am sure his doctor must be monitoring his serum calcium and phosphorus levels.

Best wishes.
