Could Vomiting And Diarrhea Be Due To Norovirus?

I had norovirus on vacation and was vomiting and diarrhea for 24 hours and then flew on a plane and did not drink or eat much. 24 hours later I had my yearly labs and my creatinine was 1.57. It is usually 1.1 to 1.3 and has been for 20 years. I am 65 years old and very, very active... bike 3 hours daily, also use weights three times a week and swim. Doctor thinks test was high because of dehydration. I take lipitor and my cholesterol is 147. Should I be worried. Wants test repeated in November.

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There is nothing to worry as it is a very small rise. It may be normal if the test is repeated again. Just take sufficient quantity of water to avoid dehydration. Cholesterol levels are normal so no need to take tablet lipitor.

I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Amit Jain
