Could Using Contaminated Hand To Place Tampon Cause HIV?

Hi, in July last year I went to Ghana for a month to volunteer in remote areas. On the second day I went to a public (run down) rest room. I took out a tampon and when I saw the bin was quite full, I moved a few bin bags and some scissors that were in the bin out of the way and disposed of my tampon behind/underneath them. However, I then immediately used the same hand to place a new tampon in without thinking. Could I have got HIV through this? About a week later I got a severe itchy rash on my stomach and 2 or 3 weeks later the rash was on my legs and arms which went away a few weeks later. I'm really scared I've got HIV! Was this just a heat rash or did I get it from the bathroom incident?

1. No HIV is spread through sexual contact and by no means one can contract it through tampon or by use of contaminated hands.

2. If the place where you disposed the tampon was a risk place for getting AIDS then only possibility could be any open ulcer in hand or inside pubic region.

3. You can check with an Infectious specialist to allay your anxiety.
