Could The Sore Swollen Throat Just Be An Irritation From Smoking?

This just started happening a few days ago but first I want to say I m a smoker and the last three days i felt like I had to constantly clear my throat and it s been sore when I swallow. And lately been kind of hard to swallow but not when I eat or drink. Looked at my throat today and saw it was red and kind of veiny. Could this just be an irritation from smoking?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that the sore throat is related to an acute illness such as the common cold.
In that case other symptoms such as nasal congestion, cough may develop.

Other causes of sore throat would be post nasal drip, over use, trauma.

Smoking can affect the throat along with other aspects of the body and would also increase the risk infections.

You can try using an oral spray or gargle to see if it helps to relieve the discomfort. Examples would be covonia or chloroseptic

I hope this helps
