Could The Sluggishness Be Due To The Over Dosage Of Ramipril?

I have recently had a stroke with mild symptoms. I have hypertension. Initially was on 2.5 mg Ramiprill daily, then my GP increased this to 5 mg daily. On my last visit to the GP she said my blood pressure was now under control, but then increased the Ramiprill to 5mg twice daily. Why would she do this is my blood pressure was under control. I am currently feeling more sluggish than usual and wondered if this was due to the increased dosage?

hi,
ramipril can cause fatigue and lethargy at high doses, and it could be the cause. any drug used for hypertension can do this by reducing cerebral flow to brain, especially in stroke patients.
i would recommend against aggressive correction of blood pressure after stroke. inform this to your doctor and ask for an appropriate dose titration.
all the best.
