Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Could The Scar Tissue At The Bottom Of Foot Be Cured?
I had a weil osteotomy in July 2013 on right foot. Left foot same procedure Dec. 2013. Both were to correct metatarsalgia of 2nd and 3rd toes. The biomechanics seem to have been corrected--both feel clearly have an arch now when I stand. However, I am in severe pain every day, which seems to be because of scar tissue on the bottom of my feet in the ball. I can feel the lumpy tissue, which I massage with a golf ball. That helps but does not alleviate pain. For the right foot it has been 1 year 2 months. Am I just stuck with this pain permanently? Will the scar tissue ever go away?
It would be vey unlikely that this scar tissue goes away. I am however sure that the pains would decrease over time. My suggestion would be to get a podiatrist who would design footwear in such a way as to uplift pressure from this point. This would be very helpful.
I hope this helps. I wish you well and feel free to return and ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
