Could The Red Itchy Bumps Be Due To Intake Of Meth?

my boyfriend uses meth moderatly (not daily but a few times a week) and he's developed red bumps that are itching and look kind of like a rash. Some of these bumps are developing right around and on a tattoo he got done within the past week and its still in the process of healing. He is in the process of cutting back and seeking help, but in the meantime what would be the best way to help with the itching, and could it infect the tattoo?

of course, it's hard to know the cause of a rash without seeing it. Itchy Red bumps you describe could be Folliculitis. Look closely to see if there are tiny hairs coming out of some of these bumps suggesting they are infected hair follicles. that can respond to an over-the-counter Cortizone cream, but sometimes an antibiotic is needed. This would not be directly caused by methamphetamine use, but chronic drug use can reduce the body's immune system and ability to fight infections.
