Could The Extreme Dry Skin And Rashes On The Arms Be The Outbreak Of Shingles?

I had been diagnosed with shingles last summer....now I seem to have extremely dry skin and end up breaking out in rashes on my arms and sometimes other areas...though mostly my forearms. Can this be related to the shingles and what can I do about it...I itch so much !! Thank you.

Hi there.
Thanks for writing in to HCM.
I note you had been diagnosed with shingles last summer. This usually presents only once in a lifetime albeit there can & have been exceptions but are more the rarity than the norm.
I don't see the dry skin /rash being linked to your shingles episode.
For the itch, please take an antihistamine like Fexofenadine 180 daily at night.
Also, please do apply an emollient like Restoraderm daily as & when required atop wet skin to help keep your skin moist & itch free.
If further doubts, feel free to contact us throught this HCM portal & upload a clear digital photograph of the affected parts.
Good Luck & Godspeed.
