Be patient with me. I m disabled and can t type fast. Over 1 month ago, I hit my ear hard on a grab bar in the bathroom. Pain went away after 5-10 minutes and I forgot all about it. About 1-2 weeks later, it felt like my ear was getting clogged (like always), so I started putting mineral oil in it to clean it out. It didn t seem to be working, but I was going out of town & couldn t go see my doctor. The 1st morning I woke up on my trip (6/16), I couldn t hear out of it, but had no pain at all. I dealt with the hearing loss for 8 more days until I could see my doctor. My doctor looked at it & said it was impacted with wax. I told her the mineral oil wasn t working, so she gave me a stronger ear treatment to soften it. I tried that for 3 days, but that didn t work either. Went back to doctor & she said she was going to refer me to an ENT. I said ok, but at checkout, I asked for my referral & they told me it would take 3 weeks to make the referral. That was on 6/27. When I realized just how long that was, I was determined that I couldn t wait that long because it was really effecting my mental clarity and stressing me out. I called an ENT that I went to 4 years ago for something different to see if I can just go back to him. They said I needed a new referral. On 6/30, I even went to the ER. He looked in my ear and said it was just wax & told me to try hydrogen peroxide. He also gave me a referral for an ENT. Next day, I called the ENT, but he didn t accept medicaid (my only insurance). I tried the peroxide next, but it had no reaction. No fizzing or bubbling. I tried it in my good ear and it started fizzing & bubbling instantly. I tried to accept that I would just have to wait for the referral, but on Thursday, I had a mental breakdown because I couldn t think straight & didn t want to do anything. My personal care attendant and I spent all day on the phone trying different things to get me into the ENT sooner & nothing worked. I finally made another appt. with my doctor for this coming Monday to go beg her to write the referral for the ENT that I went to before. It wasn t until today that I remembered hitting my ear and now I noticed a bump right in front of my ear, so I m freaking out. I m afraid the damage is permanent. What should I do?
