Could Taking Venlafaxine Cause Deafness In Left Ear?

HI, I have recently started taking venlafaxine for depression. Since I started taking it I also started feeling quite deaf in my left ear. This deafness has gone on for about two weeks now and i wondered whether the new medication could have caused this? I have also been quite physically sick recently and wondered whether the purging could have contributed to the odd deafness? Sorry if I sound completely stupid!

Hello
Welcome here.

Deafness is not reported to be the side effect of venlafaxine.

May be the general sickness could have caused such symptoms. Sometimes upper respiratory tract infections can cause such symptoms.

In future, if you develop such symptoms, you must consult your ENT specialist to find out the cause.

Thanks.
