Could Swelling And Redness On Head After Hitting Be Due To Fracture?

My two year old fell and bumped his head on the edge of a door...there is no bleeding but at first there was a dent in his head where he hit (the hard bony part above his temple). I thought since there was no bleeding he would not need to be seen. I put a bandaid on to make him feel better and he stopped crying and has resumed normal play. I pulled the bandaid off now and it is red and now swollen where it had been indented. The bandaid had a little yellow on the pad. He is still acting normal. I have tried to call his pediatrician's office and the local hospital help line but had to leave voicemails with both. I want to know if he needs to be seen. I am worried about fracture of the skull.

Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic. I understand your concern. First be reassured that your kid is normal. I will suggest you danger signs of head injury -
1. Vomiting continuously
2. Seizures
3. Watery of bloody discharge from ears and nose
4. Unconsciousness
5. Altered sensorium or behaviour.
If none of them are present, I don't think you should worry about his trivial head injury. For pain you can give oral Paracetamol in the dose of 15mg/kg/dose every 4-6th hourly.

But as you say there is an indentation I think you should see nearest emergency department now and rule out major issues.

Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.
