Could Swallowing While Talking Be A Side Effect Of Drinking Alcohol?

My mother is an alcoholic and I don't see her very often. If I speak to her on the phone at night (when she usually drinks) I notice that she swallows often in our conversation. Today, I was speaking to her in the AM and although I don't believe she was drunk (no slurring, rambling, etc.) I did notice she was swallowing a lot in the midst of sentences. Is this a side effect from drinking??

Dear
Welcome to HCM
We understand your concerns

I went through your details. You have not given your mother's age. The swallowing could be due to age related problems and alcohol combined. In either case you should consult a physician for physical examination and advise.
