Could Sudden Bad Breath Accompanied With Sore Throat, Runny Nose And Cough Be Related?

My 9 yr. old has all of a sudden had horrible breath. This is his only symptom. No sore throat, runny nose, cough, nothing. It smells AWFUL! We have been using mouth wash thinking maybe it was just bad breath but I think there is more to it. His tonsils don't appear to have pits that would catch food either so I am at a loss to what it could be!

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms sudden bad breath with no other symptoms points towards Sinus infection and you should consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and even a PNS View X-Ray can be done to rule out for any polyp in the sinus..
If there is infection antibiotics, steam inhalations and saline nasal srays can be advised..

In case if there is no sinus infection then evaluation will be done for any infection in teeth and gums, tonsil stones, oral infections etc..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
