Could Skin Rash With Red, Itchy Bumps After Change Of Medication For Diabetes Be Due To Drug Interaction?

Hi. I am an insulin dependent type 2 diabetic. My doctor put me on a new drug to help with some of the pain I suffer from neuropathy. I began taking it about 5 weeks ago. Last week, I started developing a skin rash with small red bumps that are itchy. Nothing seems to help and it seems to be getting worse. My scalp is also effected. Could this be a drug interaction?

I am so sorry to hear about this rash you have noticed recently. Your suspiccion makes sense and that should be the first possible cause to be investigated for this rash. Please, talk with your doctor so that he can review your medications and see if this is a possible cause. If you had reported the name of this drug, i would have look into it to see whether this is well known or not.

If the drug should not turn out to be a possible cause, the doctor will ook into possible causes of this and address accordingly.
