Could Sickle Disease Cause A Swollen Shin?

I have sickle cell disease and right now I am at home experiencing moderate pain . About a hour ago I discovered my mid to lower shin area was hurting significantly . When I check it out it is swollen . I ve been in bed for the past 3 days and have not hit it on anything . Could this be from sickle cell disease?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Yes. I could be due to bleeding in the joint or other surrounding tissues.
It can also be due to infection.
Consult your treating physician and do the further tests to rule out any infection.

Hope this helps.
