Could Sharp Pain In Navel Be Due To Probiotic Activia?

My husband was diagnosed with strep in Friday and is not taking antibiotics for it. His doctor recommended him to take a probiotic, like Activia while on the antibiotic. For the last couple of days, he s had a sharp pain in his belly button. Should he be concerned?

Hello. Thanks for writing to HCM. Noted your concern. Well, you need not be worried. Its probably a mild gastritis secondary to the antibiotics. It will settle on completion of the drug. However, if its very severe he can use an antacid like gelusil or gaviscon or a drug like omeprazole 20 mg once a day. It will help. Take care. Regards.
