Could Rashes All Over The Body Of An Infant Be Due To Scabies?

Hi my two month old has a rash that started on her shoulder and cheek and two pediatric doc s said two different things. First said yeast infection second (three days later) said scabies. I treated whole family with creme head to toe. The demeterolgist did a biopsy said eczema. A week later my baby got a bad rash over her entire body in less than 24 hrs. Rushed her to er. They said to take her back to dermatologist they said it wasn t scabies, or any other contagious disease. Today at dermatologist appt he scraped her skin looked under microscope and said he didn t see bugs but she does have scabies. Is that possible? My two yr old has never itched or had bites, nor have I (my husband was itching on his legs but that stoped after I treated whole family about a month ago). I just want answers I ve been told a list of what it is but never consistent. Please and thank you.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
hello and welcome to HCM,
Scabies is characterized by very intense itching all over the body.
In children rash is present all over the body including face and neck.
in adults, the rash is below the shoulders.
However, scabies is not possible without itching.
Biopsy and histopathological examination is the gold standard for diagnosis.
Since the diagnosis is eczema after histopathological examination and there is no identification of scabies parasite, the condition is eczema and not scabies.
Thus, treatment for eczema needs to be started under supervision of dermatologist.

Thanks and take care
