My husband was diagnosed with graves disease about a year ago and was put onto methimazole and propanol. He was just told to discontinue taking the medication about 3 months ago. Just cold turkey. He was supposed to be having the radioactive iodine therapy but the doctors keep postponing the appointment. He recently has developed horrible pain and pressure in his eyes. I am concerned that this disease is progressing. He recently had a visit in the ER and was told that all throid levels are normal. Things just aren t adding up. The doctor has now advised to resume taking the meds. We currently don t have health insurance and he is seeibg doctors at the county hospital. I would like to know if you know of any places that offer free health care for those with thyroid issues. I fear he is not getting the proper care and I know that thus disease is something that should be closely monitored. We live in Dallas, TX. Please help.
