Hello,
Even with a successful abortion, the pregnancy test can remain positive for 3-4 weeks based on the initial titres of serum beta-hCG as the pregnancy hormone takes some times to fall to the non-pregnant status. If you self-induced the abortion, it is advisable to take the help of a specialist to ensure that the abortion has been complete with no retained products. This can be done through a follow up sonogram done two weeks after the process and if your bleeding does not subside in a couple of days, further investigation is needed. Hope this helps.
